A Look at How Badminton Differs from Other Racquet Sports

Badminton is one of the most popular racquet sports in the world, with millions of players participating every year. However, what makes it different from other racquet sports, such as tennis and squash? In this blog post, we will explore how badminton differs from its counterparts and why it stands out in a crowd.

Rackets

The main difference between badminton and other racquet sports lies in the equipment used. A badminton racket is typically made of light material such as aluminum or graphite while those used for tennis or squash are heavier and generally more durable. The weight of a badminton racket usually ranges from 70 to 95 grams compared to that of a tennis racket which averages around 300 to 400 grams. This lighter weight allows for greater maneuverability when trying to hit shots during a match.

Court Size

Another big difference between the three sports is court size; badminton has one of the smallest courts among all racquet games, measuring just 44 feet long by 17 feet wide, whereas squash and tennis have much bigger playing surfaces with their courts ranging anywhere from 55-60 feet long by 27-36 wide respectively. Not only does this affect how far players need to move when chasing shots but also affects strategy since there’s less room available on each side compared to larger courts which gives people an advantage if they are skilled enough at moving quickly across small spaces without losing energy too quickly.
